Barialto is a new urban settlement growing near Bari aiming at the integration between residential, commercial and leisure activities. The Barialto project envisions the possibility to escape from the crowded and noisy central urban areas, through a strong relationship with the landscape and the local context.
The proposal has been developed after a deep analysis of the future needs of the citizens, evaluating expectation in terms of sustainability, ways of living and aesthetics.
The final concept is a multitude of colored butterflies laying on a greenfield. The power of this suggestion, translated into an architectural language, can give a precise identity to the new settlement and improve the overall picture of the area. The design talks the language of the typical white country houses of the Puglia region and uses the colors of the traditional ceramic artifacts for the pitches of the roofs.
Overall, the masterplan counts 450 units.
